TERI Campus of Life
San Marcos, CA | Completed: May 2024
Client: TERI Inc.
TERI is a non-profit organization that exists to change the way the world sees, helps, and empowers individuals with special needs. ACI, along with THiNK Office Interiors and JVA Art Group, collaborated on expanding the TERI Campus of Life, on 20 acres of rural hills in San Marcos, with the interior design and branding of the Walter J & Betty C Zable Foundation Performing Arts & Fine Arts Center.
Emerging from, and in harmony with the land, the TERI Campus of Life both supports and exemplifies an integrated community, establishing a complete ecosystem for all to thrive. The branding concept ACI developed, “Elemental Ecosystem,” aimed to bring the outdoors in with an immersive and experiential approach.
The Performing Arts building interiors was inspired by the streams and watersheds on the property. With a primary color palette of monochromatic blues, a calming flow to the theatre and transition between spaces. The Fine Arts Center adopts the rolling hills as a backdrop for the creative process to foster emotional growth. The primary color palette of variegated greens, is punctuated by sunrise pastels.
In both buildings, color and graphics serve as a calming presence, way-finding, and adds points of interest with opportunities to highlight the creations made within by the TERI population. The furniture program incorporates softened edges and rounds, while aiming to provide the elemental pieces to build on in function and future.
